Pru’s Gingerbread
Experiments before Christmas! Waiting to prepare the little house, I tested a recipe found on a small Carlotta’s book, modifying it a bit, but taking inspiration for the “construction”.

Ingredients:
60 gr of margarine
60 gr of icing sugar
125 gr of all purpose flour
a teaspoon of spices (say, 1/3 ginger and 2/3 cinnamon, with a good grating of nutmeg)
fruit hard candies
Method:
First of all, the candies: I found all them with natural flavours and colors and fruit: certainly not healthy if used on a daily basis, but sometimes you can do it!
Prepare the dough and put it in the fridge, wrapped in a cling film for 30 min.
Roll out the dough and cut it into shapes, then make a hole in their center, a little bit larger than the candy (I used a bottle cap).
Bake at 180 degrees for just 5 minutes, remove them from the oven and with a straw make a hole on top. Then, place the candy in the big hole in the centre and bake 5 minutes longer.
Remove from the oven, let them cool and insert the ribbons to hang your cookies to the Christmas tree.
I also did some of them without the hole but baked with a short skewer stick: very nice, wrapped with paper and a bow, as a gift for the new friends ![]()
