Christmas Tiles
(with tomato sauce)
Hi everyone!
My name is Mihaela, I’m 27 years old, and I’ve been living in Romania for almost a year and a half with my family. This is my first recipe for Christmas.

Ingredients:
4 tablespoons of sunflower oil
4 tablespoons of sugar
4 heaped tablespoons of tomato sauce (I used a homemade one, which I did, made only of tomatoes, sugar and salt)
28 tablespoons of flour
2 teaspoons of baking soda, dissolved in vinegar or lemon juice
Method:
I mixed all the ingredients in the same order I listed them, to get a dough good enough to be rolled out. If necessary, you can add bit more of flour. I divided the dough into five portions, and I rolled it out into thin sheets, the size of my baking sheet. I baked them on the bottom of the baking sheet, but be careful, as they’re done almost instantly. Then, I wetted them with syrup and I spread each with a simple cream, made of apricot jam with chopped walnuts.
As a syrup, I used that of a can of peaches in syrup, which I did following Loira’s recipe. But we can also do a bit more dense syrup with:
2 cups of water
2 cups of sugar.
To decorate, I used icing sugar and a frosting made of 50 gr of dark chocolate and 10gr of sunflower oil.
I hope you’ll like it, as my omnivores guests did like it!
