Love Apples
Today I wanted to make caramelized apples! I wanted to make them with some small wild apples … but they’re not quite in season, so I settled for these! I really like tarts with fruits and cinnamon so I was curious to taste them …
Ingredients:
4 apples
250 gr sugar
50 ml of water
1 teaspoon cinnamon
red colouring for cakes
vanillin
2 cloves
Preparation:
Wash and dry apples thoroughly, remove their stalks and plunge them with sticks, prepare a plate with baking paper (I didn’t have it). In a saucepan, mix sugar with all other ingredients and stir until it boils, add at this point the colouring as needed (if you don’t want to use it, then just buy red apples) and cloves …and stir again… let them caramelize and remove from heat, remove the cloves and now you can dive there apples to caramelize!
Let them cool on baking paper and eat!
I think this is a recipe made for children for Halloween … and as Xuxa said, in Brazil they do them for children’s birthdays, and call them “love apples”, so I thank her for having suggested me the name!
I did like them as a snack instead of the usual fruit.
I also wanted to share with you a “new entry”. The steam oven has finally arrived! We don’t know yet how to use it…it’s too technological…but it cooks fabulously, and steamed vegetables with no dressing at all are really tasty…this is a pan we prepare as a test:
and then dressed with olive oil, salt, parsley and garlic … yum gnamm
what a great invention!
p.s. We accept any suggestions for food to be cooked by steaming
