Baked Figs

I found this recipe last year, I had tried, very good!
This is a wonderful alternative to enjoy a unique fruit.
I only made a few changes to the original recipe, it was almost vegan.

8 figs, ripe but firm
sugar cane
50 ml of dry Marsala wine

Preheat oven to 180 degrees, in the meantime proceed with preparation of fig.
Gently wash the figs.
Cross cut each fig near the petiole to reach the pulp, half-height, leaving them undivided at the base.
Arrange the figs in a baking pan (I used four monoportion terrines) opening them slightly where the incision is, and distribute inside a spoonful of cane sugar.

Pour the Marsala in the terrines.
Bake for 10 minutes. Moisten occasionally with the cooking liquid.
Remove from the oven, let them cool and serve.
The cooking liquid is very good, figs become soft and aromatic, but do not lose their texture.
Excellent dessert, a perfect end of a meal.
