Evaporated Bread Rolls
… evaporated with no doubts, they’ve been instantly scoffed!
At the beginning, I was a bit skeptical about the success of this recipe; in fact, every time I use a steamer I combine some disasters! But a few days ago I have been given this beautiful bamboo steamer, and to inaugurate it I wanted to try these delicious bread rolls. They’re very versatile, so you can easily change the type of flour and fill them at your will!
And now, here’s the recipe!
Ingredients:
200 gr of all purpose flour
200 gr of wholegrain flour
25 gr of fresh brewer’s yeast
1 tablespoon of malt
3 tablespoons of corn oil
a pinch of salt
water as needed
Method:
Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix well, until dough is firm and homogeneous. Let it rise in a warm place for about two hours or, at least, until it has to doubled in volume.
Get the dough and divide it into pellets. Place a circle of baking paper beneath each of them, directly in the steamer, and let them rise for about a hour and a half.
Finally, cook them in the steamer for 15 minutes, covering with the lid. Don’t be fooled by their softness, in fact, these bread rolls have no crust, but when they’re ready, a translucent film comes out on their surface, and that shows the right level of cooking.
Once cooked, let them cool and … bon Apetit!
I tried to make them into normal and sweet version.
For the latter, I replaced water with oat milk, and filled them with jam and chocolate pieces. Needless to say they came out really good, perfect for the gluttonous!
