Mum’s Doughnuts

These donuts have been made entirely by my mum! I would have liked to take a few pictures during the preparation, but she threatened me… and for mums, this and more!! I warn you, the doses here are very abundant, but generally in my family we do like that, as mum freezes the doughnuts, to have them always ready to serve at any occasion. The taste remains unaltered and they thaw out very quickly!

500 ml of white wine
500 ml of oil (corn, sunflower … you choose!)
500 gr of sugar
2 kg of flour, maybe a little less
baking powder (follow the instructions on the package for quantity)
1 gr of vanillin

Since most of the ingredients are liquid, it’s best to mix them all in a large bowl and then place the dough on the pastry board. The dough must be smooth and homogeneous, that’s why you should adjust the quantity of flour… if it’s too much the dough crumbles, and gets difficult to shape the doughnuts. The best way to adjust the quantity of flour is to add it slowly, without looking too much at the scale, as it also depends on how much wine and oil are fluids. Once kneaded, shape the doughnuts and roll them in the sugar… I wanted to use cane sugar, but mum managed it all !!!!! Bake the doughnuts in a hot oven (180°C) for about 20 minutes, but depends on the type of your oven. These doughnuts are great as a snack, maybe less suitable for breakfast because of the wine, but dad  dunks them anyway in milk and coffee!!
